Nebraska Office of the Chief Information Officer seeks bidders for Phase II of the Network Nebraska Distance Education Network

On October 16, 2007, the State of Nebraska released a Request for Proposal seeking qualified vendors to upgrade the 140 public education entities in the 308 Area Code and Hastings-area to high bandwidth IP networking. In addition, the sites will be linked to the northeast region (Phase I) via "Interregional Transport" over a high bandwidth backbone.

Bids will be opened on November 16, 2007 and contract awards will be announced by mid-December. Approximately half of the 140 sites need to be converted to IP networking and the other half have already converted. Network implementation will occur between July 1 and August 5, 2008.
