Monthly news update from the Nebraska Information Technology Commission
Upcoming NITC Meeting
The next meeting of the Nebraska Information Technology Commission will be held on Thursday, September 9 at 11:00AM in Classroom D of the Union Pacific Center, 1400 Douglas Street, in Omaha.


Draft Video Standards document forwarded to NITC for approval
At their meeting on August 17, after reviewing public comments, the Technical Panel recommended approval of the draft Video Standards document by the NITC.

Nebraska approved for SEGP 
The University of Nebraska was notified on July 9 that Nebraska education entities, through the statewide network, were approved for Sponsored Education Group Participation in the K-20 Initiative of Internet2. This affects all K-12 schools, ESUs, community colleges, state colleges, independent colleges, public libraries, and science centers who connect to the Internet through Network Nebraska.

As the time nears for agencies to submit their biennial budget requests, a reminder that certain IT related budget requests -- for new or additional funding -- require the completion of a "Project Proposal Form." Division of Communications Reorganization
On August 2, 2004 the IMServices Networking group and the IMServices PC LAN group joined the DOC organization. This gives responsibility for all network services to the Division of Communications, as well as end to end responsibility for service and support to State agencies in the area of PC and network installations.
