E-mail Standard for State Government Agencies
The NITC is in the process of reviewing the e-mail standard for state government agencies originally adopted in 1997, and is currently considering a revision to that standard. Under the revised standard, subject to adoption by the NITC, the state would standardize on a unified e-mail system which provides agencies with the option of choosing a business-class e-mail product (Lotus Notes), or a low-cost basic e-mail product (a new "Basic E-mail" service hosted by IMServices). The Technical Panel of the NITC is seeking comments on this draft standard. Submit comments by May 21, 2004 to rbecker@cio.state.ne.us. Comments will be considered by the Technical Panel at their meeting on May 25, 2004.
