PSC holds distance learning workshop
The Public Service Commission will hold a workshop to examine the distance learning environment in rural Nebraska. The hearing will be by NVCN on March 18, 2003 at 2 pm.   Written comments must be filed by March 13.  See order C-2874/PI-71.

The infotec2003 conference is scheduled for April 7-9 in Omaha.


Ability Quest Conference
The Ability Quest Conference -- Nebraska's Largest Assistive Technology Conference and Showcase -- is scheduled for May 7-9 in Lincoln. Click here for more information and to get a registration form.

NHA developing statewide telehealth plan
The Nebraska Hospital Association is developing a statewide telehealth plan and will present the plan to the Public Service Commission in April. 
The Nebraska Information Technology Commission is providing assistance through the NITC Telehealth Subcommittee.   
 
IT Planning and Mini Grant Program update:
West Point area addresses broadband 
In northeast Nebraska, West Point and ten surrounding communities are working to develop individual technology plans and a regional plan.  Participation in the IT planning process has helped community members organize and effectively communicate their needs with potential providers.  The West Point area group is currently working with two providers to deploy fixed broadband wireless in West Point, Oakland, and the Bancroft/Pender area.  More information on the communities participating in the NITC/Technologies Across Nebraska IT Planning and Mini Grant program is now available at http://www.nitc.state.ne.us/toolkit/pilot/index.htm .

External Intrusion Security Assessment
The Office of the CIO has signed an agreement with Omni Tech Corporation to perform an "external intrusion security assessment" for state government.
