Sign up for GIS Council Work Groups

If you would like to sign up to participate in either the Boundaries WG or the Parcel/Land Records WG - use this QR code or link to submit an interest form.

The boundaries working group will work together during working meetings to reivew a cataloug of statues and creating a list of essential boundaries for Nebraska and provide recommomendations to the GIS Council that may include recommendations to the Nebraska Legislature.

The Parcels/Land Record working group will work to review NITC Standard 3-202 Land record information and mapping standard as part of a regular review and discuss the potential for a Parcel standard to either be created or added to the current standard as needed for review by the GIS Council.

GIS Council

The GIS Council develops strategies, standards and policies as it relates to the creation and use of geospatial data and geographic information system technologies for Nebraska. The council's interagency and intergovernmental coordination efforts focus on facilitating data sharing, coordinating joint database development, developing GIS enterprise services, data and system standards, and education. The council represents interests among state, local and federal government agencies and other stakeholders needing access to data. The council is affiliated with national coordination efforts through the Federal Geographic Data Committee and the National States Geographic Information Council.

Nebraska Spatial Data Infrastructure (NESDI)

The NESDI comprises of geospatial data layers that have multiple applications and are used by a vast majority of stakeholders. These layers meet quality standards and have data stewards to maintain and improve the data on an ongoing basis.


NebraskaMAP Initiative

NebraskaMAP is the public's access to geospatial data in Nebraska. It is responsible for being the only authoritative clearinghouse for state government data.

Nebraska Statewide Elevation Program

Facilitates the acquisition, maintenance, and sharing of a statewide elevation dataset by developing standards and specifications for LiDAR point clouds and derivative products.


Nebraska Statewide Imagery Program

Establishing a statewide plan for digitizing and acquisition standards and guidelines, data sharing, and statewide coverage for various levels of imagery products and services.


Land Records

Enabling the integration of different local government land records information into a statewide dataset. Developing guidelines for a common geodatabase model that can provide public data for use in a multitude of state government applications


Street Centerline Address Database

Developing and maintaining a statewide seamless street centerline and address referencing system used for various transportation, public safety, economic development, Next Generation 911 and other related applications.
